On one super cold winter day especially when it is raining (not snowing)...
Or
When you feel a chill and you know you are going to catch a cold...
Even if you are not in the above situation, keeping your body warm is essential to stay healthy. You can heighten your immune system by keeping you warm.
Let me introduce how to keep yourself warm, protected, and wrapped in fluffy feathers.
I have 2 amazing ways, which will make you feel warm from your heart. And above all, they are simple and easy.
1 Ginger tea
What is ginger tea?
Black tea with grated ginger. That’s it.
According to an experiment, black tea with ginger could keep our bodies warm for a longer time than just hot water with grated ginger.
Black tea contains theaflavins, which are antioxidant polyphenols.
You can add milk, honey, mint, or lemon if you like.
I add a lot of ginger, so the tea becomes a bit spicy. But I don’t mind. It is still delicious. I am drinking ginger tea when I am writing this.
Tips
1 Wash the ginger well and don’t peel it. The peel has ingredients.
2 Use a metal grater. It can cut the fiber of the ginger easily.
3 Take decaffeinated tea if you are sensitive to caffeine like me.
4 Add ginger while the tea is hot.
2 Warm ankles and neck with a hairdryer (and other parts where a chill is)
“Hairdryers can warm our acupuncture points as well as ‘okyu’,” said Akira Kawashima, MD.
Okyu is moxibustion where we burn moxa (dried moxa leaves) on the skin. That stimulates acupuncture points.
If you are staying in Japan, house-use okyu plasters (in the photo) are available at pharmacies. If you don’t have house-use okyu plasters, you can use a hairdryer as well.
When I feel cold and I am likely to catch a cold, I warm my neck with a hairdryer and it works. You can warm anywhere you feel a chill with a hairdryer. Do experiment around it.
Tips:
1 The hairdryer is about 10 cm apart from your skin.
2 Stop heating when you feel hot. Be careful not to have a burn
3 Repeat this 5 to 6 times
