Human beings have made tea out of many herbs. We have been very creative and courageous. Sometimes the plants are just in front of us, but we don’t usually think of making a medicinal herb tea out of those plants.
I found 3 kinds of medicinal herb tea in Japan, which all have health benefits.
Here we go!
1. For better blood circulation: Pine needle tea
Material:
Dried pine needle
Benefits:
Drain extra cholesterol
Improve blood circulation
This tea contains chlorophyll and quercetin. It also contains vitamins A, C, and K.
*It contains a bit of caffeine. Some kinds of pine needles can contain toxins.
Taste (very subjective):
It doesn’t taste strong.
If a wood smell transforms to a teste, it tastes like this tea.
2. For asthma and better digestion: Loquat leaf tea
Material: Dried Loquat leaf
Benefits:
Improve asthma
Enhance stomach and gut functionality
Loquat leaves have been used for medicine traditionally in Asia because it contains saponin, which is an antioxidant, and tannin, a kind of polyphenol.
Yuriko Tojo, a researcher of natural therapy, said in her book, that a loquat tree in our yard keeps a doctor away.
She said when we drink loquat leaf tea, it helps asthma and improves stomach and gut functions. When we wash our face with loquat leaf tea, our skin glows.
Taste (very subjective):
It doesn’t taste strong. For me, it tastes like roasted barley tea but tastes less than roasted barley tea.

3. For those who have difficulty sleeping: Daylily tea
Material: Daylily
It grows in Okinawa, Japan’s southern island, and contains iron, minerals, and vitamins.
Benefits:
Relax and have a good sleep
I found this tea when I took a head massage recently. They served me this tea.
The herb is called “Sleeping herb” in Okinawa.
The tea is scientifically proven to be effective for good sleep. If you have difficulty falling asleep, or you wake up in the middle of sleep, worth trying.
Taste (very subjective):
It also has a very neutral taste for me but it tastes stronger than the above two. It tastes like an herb in our yard becoming tea.

Drinking tea is a natural way to improve your body. The change might not be so quick but when you keep doing it, you will see the difference.
Some of the tea above might be available online. So try them.
