A little mistake that cost two chipped teeth

Recently I went to see a new dentist and she was amazing. She shared a lot of tips on how to care for our teeth, and I would like to share them with you.

Before I get into her tips, this is what I have been doing, which also works.

I rinse my mouth after I eat fruits and try to keep my mouth alkaline.

I came to have this habit because I had two chipped teeth after I started drinking water with squeezed lemon every morning.

I learned drinking lemon water was beneficial for our health. But this made my mouth acid, and I didn’t do anything after that. That was my mistake. Then I had two of my teeth chipped. OMG! Drinking lemon water helps one thing but it seems not good for my teeth because it is acid. Acid wears away an enamel that protects our teeth.

After I experienced chipped teeth twice in a short period, I learned the benefit of keeping our mouth alkaline.

I met this oral care product brand called “Dr Hisham’s" from New Zealand. The mouthwash and dental paste keep our mouth alkaline. After I used these products, I haven’t had chipped teeth, and my teeth no longer hurt when I drink cold water.

Important thing is to make your mouth alkaline before you brush your teeth. Otherwise, your teeth are still too soft for brushing especially after eating acid food. You can use baking soda to make an alkaline mouthwash and rinse your mouth before brushing your teeth.

I thought this was enough. But the new dentist said very interesting thing, which is…

“Don’t challenge your teeth.”

Have you ever challenged your teeth by using your teeth to open something? Or have you ever trained your teeth by biting something hard?

The dentist said this is no good! Because these could create tiny cracks on our teeth even though we cannot see them. And these tiny cracks can become bigger with time going on.

She told me to bite any food slowly and softly so that I don’t bite down on hard substances, which can make my teeth chipped.

She also said a chipped tooth doesn’t happen because of age. If we take good care of our teeth, we don’t have to experience this.

LET’S DO THIS.

Bite slowly and softly in order not to bite down on hard things. Don’t eat mindlessly. Taste food mindfully.

When we feel good about our teeth, we can start our day pleasantly.
